Many buyers ask the difference. Both are alum double sulfate crystals with similar appearance and applications. The key distinction:
- Potassium Alum (KAl(SO4)2·12H2O): Contains potassium ions. This is the traditional “alum stone” recognised globally. Generally the preferred grade for natural deodorant stones, cosmetic and personal care markets — especially in EU, US, Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern consumer markets. Slightly higher purity and perceived quality.
- Ammonium Alum (NH4Al(SO4)2·12H2O): Contains ammonium ions. Similar performance at a typically more economical price point. Widely used in industrial water treatment and where cost is the primary factor.
