Product Overview
Basic Aluminium Chloride (BAC) is an aluminium-based inorganic coagulant supplied for industrial wastewater treatment. This product appears as a black to dark grey powder and supports coagulation and solid–liquid separation in wastewater containing suspended solids and colloidal particles.
Potential applications include steel processing, coal washing, mineral processing and papermaking wastewater. However, treatment performance depends on wastewater composition, pH, alkalinity, temperature and operating conditions. Therefore, evaluate the selected grade through jar testing before full-scale use.

Refer to the product-specific TDS for specifications and test conditions. In addition, request a batch-specific COA to review the reported results for the supplied grade.
All on-page figures represent our standard production range. Batch-wise actual values are shown on the COA supplied with every shipment. Third-party testing is supported.
Why Choose BAC for Industrial Wastewater?
Superior Performance in High-Turbidity Water
BAC excels in water with high suspended solids, high turbidity and high colour load — exactly the conditions found in steel mills, coal washing and mining operations.
Fast, Dense Flocculation
Forms heavy, compact flocs that settle rapidly, shortening treatment cycles and reducing load on downstream filtration.
Works Across a Wide pH Range
Effective across pH 5.0 – 9.0, tolerating variable industrial wastewater quality without extensive pre-adjustment.
Cost-Effective for Large Volumes
Compared with drinking-water-grade PAC or PAM, BAC delivers reliable results at a lower cost per tonne of wastewater treated — ideal for high-volume industrial discharge.
Compatible with PAM
Often used in combination with anionic PAM as a coagulant-flocculant system for maximum removal efficiency in challenging wastewater.
Main Application Fields
Steel Mill & Metallurgical Wastewater
Primary use for BAC. Removes suspended solids, iron compounds and turbidity from steel processing and metallurgical effluent.
Coal Washing & Coking Wastewater
Treats coal washing effluent and coking wastewater with high turbidity and organic load.
Mining & Mineral Processing
Tailing thickening, solid-liquid separation, and clarification of mineral processing wastewater.
Papermaking Wastewater
Supports the removal of suspended fibres, fine particles and some particulate or colloidal organic matter from papermaking wastewater. However, dissolved organic pollutants may require additional treatment.
Textile & Dyeing Wastewater
Preliminary treatment of dyeing and textile wastewater before biological treatment.
General Industrial Wastewater
Suitable for chemical plants, electroplating, rubber and other industrial wastewater requiring primary coagulation.
Note:This BAC grade is intended for industrial wastewater treatment. Do not use it for drinking water treatment or food-contact applications. For other applications, contact us to discuss the required product specifications and supporting documentation.
Packaging & Storage
Packaging Options
- 25 kg PP woven bag with inner PE moisture-proof liner (standard export)
- 50 kg PE woven bag (bulk industrial option)
- 1000 kg jumbo / FIBC / jumbo bag
- Palletised and stretch-wrapped for container loading
Storage Requirements
Store in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse. Keep bags sealed — BAC is hygroscopic and will cake if exposed to moisture. Protect from sunlight and incompatible chemicals.
Shelf life: 12 months in original sealed packaging.

Why Choose KolinSC as Your BAC Supplier
We understand that industrial wastewater is different from drinking water. Our BAC is formulated and tested for the harsh conditions of steel, mining and coal washing effluent.
We supply BAC, PAC (white and yellow), PAM and alum products — one source for your entire wastewater treatment chemical programme.
Every batch tested for Al2O3, basicity, insoluble matter and pH. COA ships with every container.
Send us your wastewater analysis; our team recommends the right dosage and PAM combination for your system.
FAQ
BAC and PAC terminology can overlap across suppliers. Therefore, compare the specific grades by Al₂O₃ content, basicity, insoluble matter and impurity limits. Colour alone does not establish treatment performance or application suitability.
No. BAC is an industrial-grade product designed for wastewater treatment. It is not suitable for drinking water. For drinking water treatment, please use our drinking-water-grade White PAC or Yellow PAC.
Yes. BAC can serve as a coagulant, while a suitable PAM grade can assist flocculation. However, polymer type, dose and dosing sequence require testing with the actual wastewater or sludge.
There is no universal dosage for industrial wastewater. Determine the dose through jar testing with representative samples, and report it clearly as mg/L of the supplied product or on another specified dosing basis.
The suitable operating pH depends on the wastewater and treatment target. Test a range of pH conditions alongside the dose series, and assess whether pH adjustment is necessary.
Moisture exposure can cause caking. Therefore, keep the packaging sealed and use a dry container for shipment. Moisture-resistant liners help reduce the risk, but storage and transport conditions also affect the product’s condition.
12 months from production date in the original sealed bag, stored in a cool, dry warehouse.
Yes. 500 g – 1 kg samples are available. Customer covers express freight. The sample fee can be refunded against a confirmed bulk order.
